What community OT at Strive to Thrive Therapy looks like

Occupational therapist presenting during a community OT learning session.

You will support adults in their homes and communities across Greater Brisbane. Working in a person’s real environment gives you the chance to understand the practical barriers, routines and goals that shape everyday life.

Your work may include:

  • Functional Capacity Assessments and progress reviews
  • Assistive Technology assessments and recommendations
  • Minor and complex Home Modification assessments
  • Daily living skills and capacity building
  • Home and community safety
  • Collaboration with participants, families and support coordinators
  • Clear, practical reports that help people access the right support

The role offers variety and autonomy, but you will not be expected to carry complex work without support.

Good community OT needs the right support around it

Meaningful work can still become exhausting when caseloads, travel, reports and administration are not managed properly. We build support into the role rather than waiting until an OT is overwhelmed.

Manageable caseloads

Caseloads are matched to experience and built progressively. Workload decisions consider reports, travel, communication and the unexpected tasks that sit around each client visit.

Protected thinking and writing time

Admin and report time is planned into the week. OTs need enough space to think, document clearly and prepare for complex work.

Supervision that is actually available

Regular supervision, case discussion and debriefing are part of the working rhythm. Asking questions is normal, not treated as a weakness.

Administration and team connection

Practical scheduling and communication support helps clinicians stay focused on good client work. Mobile practice is balanced with real people, shared systems and regular connection.

What you will receive

The exact package will depend on the role, experience and workload agreed, but current opportunities include:

  • Salary from $75,000 to $125,000 FTE, depending on role and experience
  • Superannuation and performance bonuses
  • Paid travel per kilometre
  • Laptop and phone
  • $1,500+ annual professional development budget
  • Weekly supervision and mentoring
  • Protected report and administration blocks
  • Structured onboarding and practical clinical tools
  • Full-time and part-time options
  • School-friendly or flexible arrangements where suitable
  • Optional hybrid administration
  • Opportunities to contribute to service development and future growth

The goal is not simply to fill your calendar. It is to build a role where you can do good work and still have energy left for the rest of your life.

Is this a mobile role?

How are caseloads managed?

Caseloads are matched to experience and built progressively. We consider client contact, travel, reports, communication and administration rather than looking only at appointment numbers.

What supervision will I receive?
